LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Ashley Tisdale is best known for singing, dancing and acting in Disney's "High School Musical" films. The first two were hugely successful TV movies, and the third, theatrical release "High School Musical: Senior Year," grossed $253 million at worldwide box offices.
For her next project, the 24-year-old has shifted gears by stepping away from the musical genre and into a family comedy, "Aliens in the Attic," which debuts on Friday. She spoke to Reuters about life after "HSM," pesky paparazzi and how she almost considered quitting show business before Disney came calling.
Q: Your new movie has a lot of CGI (computer generated imagery), because there are aliens hiding out in the attic of your summer home. Have you done CGI work before? A: "Never, but it wasn't very hard. We shot on set in New Zealand and they had these little green stuffed animals we were supposed to look at. The action scene at the end was a lot of fun. Over the past three years, Ashley Tisdale has pretty much become synonymous with Sharpay Evans. But now, her time at East High is totally dunzo, and she's got a new flick to prove it. In Aliens in the Attic, Ashley plays Bethany Pearson, a girl who just wants to spend her vacay making lovey-dovey faces at her hottie BF (played by Robert Hoffman). But Bethany's plans are derailed when she and her sibs find out that there are, well, aliens living in the attic of their Maine vacation home. Major butt kicking ensues, and Ashley even gets to tussle with an alien herself! What's it like fighting with an imaginary alien? And who would Ashley want on her side if she were fighting real-life aliens? Get answers now!
You filmed the movie about a year ago -- before High School Musical 3. Is it weird to have a movie come out so long after you filmed it? Yeah, definitely. I'm dark-haired now, I look different, it's very strange, but it's very cool. I can't wait 'til it comes out. A lot of it had to do with the CGI, the animation -- that's why it took a long time.
What was it like filming the fight scene with the alien? Had you worked with CGI before? No, I hadn't. It was definitely interesting and a challenge, but it was really fun. It's kind of like doing choreography. If I was dancing, you have to know where to go and you choreograph a whole action scene and then obviously they did the animation and put it wherever you are. You just have to hit certain marks, so it wasn't really hard -- it was just challenging.

Ashley's Going To Be an Aunt

Ashley Tisdale’s older sister Jennifer Tisdale is expecting her first child with fiance Shane, a source close to the couple tells JustJared.com.
“They couldn’t be happier,” the source reveals. “They’re ecstatic and planning to get married later this month.”
Jennifer, 27, announced her engagement to Shane via Twitter earlier this month.
Yesterday, mama-to-be Jennifer tweeted that she’s moving into a bigger apartment to fit her growing family: “Getting ready to pack up my apartment. So excited about getting a bigger place w/ my loves!”

Ashley Preforms for "Extreme Makeover" Crowd.

"High School Musical" star Ashley Tisdale performed one song three times for a small crowd at the "Extreme Makeover:Home Edition" site in western Greene County.
Organizers had said Tisdale would perform a concert for all of the spectators. However, Tuesday's rains required a change in plans.
A stage set up by Down Home Productions was fenced off and untouched for the day. Tisdale performed inside the garage of the new home of Chris & Niki Hampton and their children.
The crowd of several dozens included volunteers on the EM:HE build, people with ties to builder Millstone Custom Homes and kids from the Musgrave unit of the Boys & Girls Club. Some of the Hampton children attend Musgrave.
Tisdale has a new album and movie coming out next week.

Ashley Tisdale: Complete My Album!

Ashley Tisdale shows off her fun pair of heart-shaped sunglasses in her closet at her home in Los Angeles on Friday (July 10).
The 24-year-old recently announced the details of her Guilty Pleasure “Complete My Album” feature. She shares, “In the weeks leading up to the July 28th release of my new album, Guilty Pleasure, you can buy pre-release tracks exclusively on iTunes. Through the tracks as they become available, they’ll go towards the purchase of a full album once it’s available by using the Complete-My-Album feature.” Check out the vid above!
Ashley Tisdale answers a fans question in this new sneak peek of her AOL Sessions.
When asked what her favorite song on her new album was, the 23-year-old singer replied, “My favorite song would have to be ‘What If.’ I co-wrote the song with Kara DioGuardi and the song it just very personal to me. It’s one of my favorite songs to perform as well.”

Ashley Get A Clue Video Contest

Pop singer and actress Ashley Tisdale will launch the "Get a Clue" Video Clue Contest on July 17, 2009, leading up to the release of her sophomore album, Guilty Pleasure. Tisdale will post video clues that will take her fans on an online scavenger hunt to collect answers for a chance to fly away and meet her at one of her shows. Fans will have an opportunity to submit their answers to the video clues online on July 28, 2009, the release date of Guilty Pleasure.
The week of Guilty Pleasure's release, Tisdale will appear on The Today Show on July 28, The View on July 29, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on July 30. Tisdale is also starring in the movie Aliens in the Attic, which hits theaters on July 31. Click HERE for the contest page.

Ashley Gets Edgy on New Album

Ashley Tisdale knows it sounds silly, but her new album has a lot to do with the color of her hair.
"For the last few years everyone has thought of me as Sharpay," the 23-year-old singer/actor says, referring to her blonde-and-bubbly character in Disney's smash "High School Musical" films.
"So after I'd finished all the promotion for 'High School Musical 3' I dyed my hair back to its original color. I'd been a blonde for five years; Disney wanted us to be those characters. But the new songs I was working on felt edgier, sort of back to how I was before 'High School Musical.' I wanted to show people a side of me they haven't seen before."
Tisdale accomplishes that — well, sort of — on "Guilty Pleasure," due July 28 from Warner Bros. Like her 2007 debut, "Headstrong" (which, according to Nielsen SoundScan, has sold 471,000 copies in the United States), the new 14-track set offers plenty of catchy choruses and lyrics about boys.
But with songwriting and production credits from "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi, among others, "Guilty Pleasure" is a more mature, guitar-driven outing than the dance-pop "Headstrong." In the opener, "Acting Out," she promises to "break these chains" over driving bubble-punk drums, while the lead single, "It's Alright, It's OK," could be the younger sister of Pink's "So What." ...
